Where The Wild Things Are

When I took up CW100 (Creative Writing 100), the course was split three-ways. Fiction, Children's Writing, and Poems.

I wasn't prepared for Children's Writing. It honestly may be the hardest part of the course. Haha. Anywho, I still loved it all the same because our professor read us some books! This particular one, "Where The Wild Things Are" sure left an impression. It's a bit dark and all, but still very heart-warming.

I was surprised to find that they were planning to make it into a film! Now not all children's books take off, more so something like this.

It's being directed by Spike Jonze (Being John Malkovich, Adaptation) and took years to actually materialize. It's deemed too dark for children at test screenings, so they might as well make a gamble and make it a movie for adults. The film's release date is set for
October 16th, 2009, and to be distributed by Warner Brothers.

On to the trailer!

  1. I am pretty excited about this movie. This book has been around for a long time, so plenty of the kids who remember this book from their childhoods will make their way to the movie out of nostalgia. I'm sure that's what the producers are hoping will happen, at least.
